Actually, fat is quite necessary to a healthy diet and required for body function. The key or trick to losing weight is to burn more calories than you take in.
In order to successfully lose weight and keep the pounds off you need to loose weight you need to understand that fad diet generally do not work or the fad diet will not help keep the weight off. The best thing you can do yourself is eat a healthy balanced diet, where you are burning more calories than you are taking in. The best way to start losing weight is to take it one step at a time. By following these steps you will be able to lose weight, feel better about yourself and have less health issues.
Step One:
Eat like you normally do; but keep a log of how many calories you are taking in. Write down everything you eat and the amount of calories it is worth. You can do this for a few days, or a week or two. The idea is to get familiar with how many calories you are taking in everyday.
Step Two:
Calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate, which is basically the number of calories you burn daily just by living and breathing. Once you have done this you will want to match your calorie intake to whatever your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is.
Step Three:
Slowly reduce your calories intake by 100 each week until you reach a calorie deficit of 300 to 500 calories. No matter what if you are a woman do not go under a 1,200-calorie intake as a general rule. If you are a man do not go under a 1,500-calorie intake. This is a general guideline seeing as that is the approximate number of calories a person needs to maintain body function.
Step Four:
Add exercise into the mix in a slow steady manner the same way you reduced your calorie intake. The real trick with losing weight is slowly building up to it over time. There wont be immediate results but over time you will notice definite changes that are significant because you will be making a lifestyle change and you will have more chances of being successful than you would have been if you followed a fad diet.
