Find out if what you’ve been doing is good or bad for your skin!

6 Main Causes of Aging Skin

- UV rays

- Dehydration

- Lack of sleep and rest

- Poor diet

- Unhealthy lifestyle of booze and cigarettes

- Stress

Right Those Wrongs!

Blunder 1: Only people in their 40s and beyond require anti-aging skincare. Young people need not bother.Truth: Ageing happens to everyone at all times. So even if you are in your twenties, you should also take precautions against premature aging while others can age gracefully through the use of anti-aging products.

Blunder 2: Wrinkles are part and parcel of aging skin. I shouldn’t attempt to combat that in case of undesirable skin results.Truth: Dry skin contributions to the formation of wrinkles. Thus, moisturizer must be applied to lessen fine lines. Choose moisturizers with SPF 15 or above to protect against harmful sunrays. Also, use anti wrinkles gel patches to get rid of those lines.

Blunder 3: For more youthful skin, I must wash my face frequently to remove grime and dead skin cells.Truth: Over cleansing will dry out your skin, thus causing it to age faster. Use a cleanser that suits your skin best and cleanse twice daily. To remove dead skin cells, use exfoliating facial wash or facial scrubs weekly.

Blunder 4: For skin to sag is a natural process. The most I can do is to stay away from face massages, as these will cause my skin to sag even more.Truth: Skin massages will boost skin metabolism, which will lead to a healthier skin. As you age, your body produces less collagen, thus causing your skin to lose its firmness. Try using skincare products with botanical collagen contents and use firming masks to strengthen your skin’s elasticity.

Blunder 5: As one of the main causes of aging skin is harmful UV rays, anti-aging skincare is most effective during daytime.

Truth: Certain products or ingredients (like retinol) should only be used at night, as they tend to make the skin extra sensitive to the sun. Some products work best when you are asleep as the skin is replenishing its nutrients or the healing process is faster. Read the product labels carefully to choose your day and night creams.

Women all over the world are doing a variety of things to combat aging. They want their faces to look like they did a few years ago, and are trying all kinds of new technologies to find the look of youth. One of these new technologies is being marketed by one of the worlds largest manufacturers of beauty products; the new technology is the use of nano particles in their cosmetics, particularly in anti-aging wrinkle creams like Revitalift. Yesterday Baby Boomers are now cosmetic queens. They are willing to pay a high price to restore a youthful appearance to their skin.

Nano cosmetics are so named because they utilize extremely tiny (or nano) particles to penetrate the skin far more than traditional anti aging treatments are able to do. Nano technology was originally introduced to be used in man made fibers and medicinal drugs. Because of the ability of these particles to be absorbed into skin cells, questions have arisen concerning the long-term effects of the chemicals being introduced into the body.

This is particularly an issue if the particles leach into body cells or the bloodstream. Both the British Agency, the Royal Society, and the American agency, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), have voiced concerns about the use of nano technology in cosmetic treatments. These governmental bodies are calling for some serious research into the long term effects of these cosmetics in the cosmetics industry, which has been relatively unregulated since its conception. The FDA is also looking into the possibility of introducing a system which would require clinical trials and licensing within this industry.

According to the FDA, urgent research is needed to assess safety concerns about nano particles used in cosmetics. The Royal Society is also questioning whether the particles are taken into cells, whether they can enter the bloodstream, and the effects of these. The fears arising from the use of nanotechnology in cosmetics are due to questions about possible genetic mutation as a long term effect.

Traditionally, anti aging skin care products were designed to hold moisture in the skin by creating a barrier between the skin and the outside world. Nano particles in the new generation of cosmetics do not work this way. They are designed to penetrate the upper layers of the skin and stimulate new skin cell production which gives skin a new, plump, and youthful appearance.

Nano particles make it possible to get a multitude of chemicals into the deeper layers of skin because the chemicals can be covered by the particles. Many of these chemicals would cause irritation in other forms and may be stimulating the inner working by irritating from the inside. This is the nano cosmetic secret to anti aging and anti wrinkle skin care products. Basically, if your use these products, you will definitely see results but you do not know what effects they may have on you in the long run.

This rush to influx the market with over the counter anti aging creams and other anti aging cosmetics is in answer to medical treatments for anti aging, like Botox. Skin care companies have realized that people will pay well for products that work due to the number of people who utilize (and pay for) the Botox solution for anti-aging, even if it is temporary.

One of the biggest manufacturers, in an attempt to keep their competitive edge, is leading this race, having patented several dozen nanosomes. A nanosome is a particle which is a staggering 800 times smaller than the diameter of a single human hair. Some of the products that they have introduced which incorporate the use of nanosomes include: Biotherm Age Fitness Nuit, Vichy Reti C, and Revitalift Double Lifting.

With the cosmetics industry steady increase in sales (approximately 10% per year), companies are always looking for ways to draw customers to their door. Other companies involved in using nanotechnology in conjunction with cosmetics include companies like Dior, Estee Lauder, and Johnson & Johnson.

While these and other companies are working the technology, they may not actually have products on the market yet. One of the appearance concerns that some companies are interested in using nanotechnology to answer is hair; research is ongoing to find ways to use nano particles to prevent hair from turning grey and also for loss of hair.

While the use of nanotechnology in the cosmetics industry is quite a rage for both cosmetics companies and consumers. This technology as an anti aging tool does give results, but may pose serious health concerns, not only for current generations, but for future generations.

It was proven that the energy a rat body requires to grow hair could be channeled into their immune system and natural cell reproduction for a longer healthier cleaner life — without body hair.

This concept isn抰 new, every apple farmer in the world knows that you must cut off all the new branches each year called 揝uckers?or they抣l 搒uck?all the energy from the apple producing branches — Its common sense that the same principal applies to all living beings and is one of the leading arguments of why Japanese, who have very little body hair, live longer than the “hairy foreigners”, as the Japanese like to say.

In theory, if your body doesn抰 have to produce body hair, then all that extra energy can be used elsewhere. Everyday, 24 hours a day, a human body produces hair and it never stops until the day you die unless, you do what the mice did, and get all your hair permanently removed from your body – at least all the hair no one sees. Get rid of your body hair and perhaps you’ll have a better longer life, no one knows for sure if this will have any significant affect on humans at all, but it can’t hurt to try for those of us searching for healthier longer lives.

If you want to do some self-testing instead of waiting another 20 years to find out what the affect is on humans if any — find a skin clinic near you and get started. Every big city in the world now has skin clinics that provide Laser hair Removal for men and women. It isn’t cheap and it might take up to 3 times to get the most stubborn hairs. Its completely safe and FDA approved HOWEVER at this point in testing, hair removal affecting human longevity has no evidence to back it up — We’ll let you know in 20 years.

In Part 1, we introduced the concept of Facial Isometrics. Note that as you start to look more youthful that you will also begin to feel younger too. So now let’s continue and get onto the exercises for some specific areas of your face, so as to give you a healthy, natural beauty.

1. Neck and under chin

A) Tilt your head back to stretch the skin under your chin. To help initially with this exercise, feel the muscle running from your chin down the front of your neck and tense it. You might find this difficult to do at first, so tilt your head back, open you mouth and now lift your lower jaw to close your mouth as you tense the muscle. Tense it at least 10 times then do it a few times with your head less tilted. Another way to think of this exercise is to tilt your head backwards while lifting your chin upwards. Hold this position while making chewing motions with your jaw.

B) Now press your chin downwards hard against your neck (or probably the middle of your collar bone) so as to compress the muscle and skin then tilt your head back slightly as you tense the muscle again. Do this at least 10 times.

2. Sides of neck

A) The muscles at the side of your neck are larger and probably easier to tense than the one in exercise 1. Again you might like to feel the muscle with your fingertips to help. Tense the left side at least 10 times then swap to the right side. Now alternate left and right 10 times. Then do a set of tensing both sides at the same time. This last one might take some practice!

B) Now repeat the whole thing all over again but this time first press your chin downwards hard against the side of your neck (or probably the side of your collar bone) then tilt your head back slightly as you tense the muscle again. Do this at least 10 times for each of the movements above. I’ve seen some people lift up their chin and slap the neck skin with the back of their hand. I’ve never done this but if you think it might be helpful, you could add that here.

3. Sides of chin

A) Now we are going to work on the muscles that run from your bottom lip diagonally down to the bottom of your jaw. This might take some practice, so use your fingers and definitely look in the mirror for these. First tense the left side downwards at least 10 times. You will know that you have got it when your lower lip is dragged down and diagonally to the left. Then swap to the right side. Now alternate left and right 10 times. Then do a set of tensing both sides at the same time.

B) Now we are going to use the muscles in the opposite direction. This will also include the muscles of the lower lip in an upwards and diagonal direction. So starting with the left side, you will look as though you have dragged the bottom left of your lower lip up across to your upper lip – not a pretty sight but it will prepare you for a gnurdling competition! Then swap to the right side. Now alternate left and right 10 times. Then do a set of tensing both sides at the same time (this is really quite strange and difficult so work on it).

4. Lower lip

We’ve already worked on the lower lip in an upwards motion in exercise 3. Now we’ll counterbalance that by pulling the lower lip downwards. This looks like a pout. To avoid making it too easy by assisting with the upper lip pushing down, open your mouth a bit. Complete ten repetitions.

1. Be Portion Savvy – The key to weight control is to know how much a serving should be. Limit protein to the size of a deck of cards; carbohydrates like rice and bread and potatoes for example, to the size of your closed fist. Vegetables and fruit should fill half your plate and fats and oils should be kept to a minimum – less than one tablespoon. If you don’t exercise very often choose a small plate and pile it high with low-fat, low-calorie vegetables or salad before adding meat or poultry and carbs.

2. Protect Your Heart – By increasing the intake of wholegrains, you will reduce the likelyhood of heart failure dramatically. Wholegrains prevent chronic illnesses like stroke and diabetes. Wholemeal bread and pasta will help protect you against pre-menopausal breast cancer too so aim for 3 servings of 16g portions a day. If you don’t exercise much have for breakfast a small bowl of porridge or wholegrain toast.

3. Balance Your Omega Fats – Omega-3 fats reduce inflammation and protect against heart disease and arthritis but avoid taking too many omega-6s found bought sauces, cakes, pastries. Aim for oily fish, green leafy vegetables. nuts and seeds. A couple of portions of fresh or frozen oily fish or eggs will do.

4. Basic Core Exercises – The deep band of muscles in your abdomen and back that keep your pelvis stable will help prevent back and joint problems and do wonders to streamline your figure for those summer dresses. Pilates is an excellent art to learn for your body. Here’s a tip – pull in your abdomen throughout the day by drawing your navel in towards your spine for a strong core.

5. Pain-Proof Your Back – Check your posture when you sit especially it you have an office job. Wiggle your bottom back into the chair as far back as possible or support the lower part of your back with a cushion. Run your fingers down your breast bone to where it ends about five inches above your navel and make your spine push forwards towards your finger. This automatically brings your shoulders back down and creates a sense of lightness down your spine. If you’re sitting for long hours take a break and walk around the office or get outside for at least 5 minutes every hour.

6. Use An Electric Toothbrush – A rotating, oscillating head toothbrush removes more plaque and protects against gum disease and diabetes. Gum disease is actually linked to higher levels of pancreatic cancer. Here’s a tip – brush for two minutes twice a day, once before breakfast and last thing at night, but not straight after meals. Eating and drinking naturally weakens your tooth enamel and brushing straight afterwards can brush away tiny particles of enamel and make your teeth more transparent so it’s always best to wait at least an hour.

7. Walk To Exercise Your Brain – Simply walking for 30 minutes 3 times a week can improve your concentration and powers of reasoning dramatically and age is not a barrier. Walking supplies fresh air and essential oxygen to your brain and dramatically increases your ability to think, reason and remember so it’s best to aim for 30 minutes a day if possible of brisk walking enough to make you puff. Here’s a tip – take the stairs instead of the lift or sprint up the stairs and skip a step instead or going up one-by-one.

8. Reduce Salt – There is enough added salt and other additives in food as it stands. Avoid ready meals when possible and remember that just because something tastes sweet, it doesn’t mean there is no added salt. Biscuits, flapjacks, chocolates are all guilty of this so reduce your intake to prevent the tens of thousands of salt-related cardiovascular diseases that occur every year.

9. Drink Tea – Contrary to popular belief, tea hydrates just as well as water. Three cups a day (sugar-free) will protect your teeth and strengthen your bones and the secret lies in the anti-oxidants found in black tea, white and green tea. But don’t over-do it because it can have an adverse effect.

That was only 9 straight forward tips for you to follow. We’ve only just touch the tip of the ice-berg. Visit http://www.yourcoffeecorner.com for the insider secrets and anti-aging tips.
