Relationships can be marred when halitosis is a problem. Consider a boyfriend who can’t bear to kiss his girlfriend because she has bad breath. Or how about coworkers who refuse to work with a colleague because they can’t stand to have him discuss matters face to face? Knowing how to tell someone they have bad breath is one of life’s little dramas but it needn’t be if you handle it with discretion, empathy and understanding.

No one wants to be the bearer of unpleasant news, but at some point, when someone has bad breath, the news has to be given.

Dropping hints to the person with bad breath can be the answer as long as it’s done in the right spirit. It wouldn’t be nice to throw a tube of toothpaste and a bottle of mouthwash from across the room while laughing and telling the person their breath smells bad. Also, standing before them with your hand covering your nose is a bad idea.

Leaving anonymous hints for coworkers with bad breath can work, but can also be a little sly, so the person with bad breath will feel there is a conspiracy against him. Judge the situation before embarking on an anonymous campaign because the aim is not to hurt the person’s feelings, but to spur them on to curing their bad breath.

With a little sensitivity, a well-meaning person can take the sufferer aside and tell them gently that their breath is unpleasant. Whether it’s girlfriend to boyfriend, child to parent, student to teacher or employee to employee, handling it well is about putting yourself in the other person’s shoes and treating them as you yourself would want to be treated. Trying to work out how to tell a friend they have bad breath can be difficult. You don’t want to hurt her feelings, but you also don’t want to put up with her halitosis anymore. Again, sensitivity is called for.

Whatever you do, when you try to tell someone they have bad breath, do it without mockery, disgust or shame. Bad breath is a fact of life for a large proportion of the population and most people already know that they have it, but don’t realize that it’s affecting those around them. By offering them heartfelt advice, you can eliminate the issue of embarrassment.

You may not feel happy with your life if you have a bad breath problem. You always try to find the best cure for bad breath that can totally eliminate your awful smell coming from your mouth. Do not worry though because you have come to the right place. I have listed here 4 ways to cure your bad breath.

1) Brushing And Flossing Your Teeth

This is the best cure for bad breath you should not live about. Brushing your teeth can make your teeth and tongue clean altogether. There are many good and branded toothpaste on the market you can buy with a cheap price. Make sure to use a toothbrush that is suitable for your teeth and mouth size.

Flossing between teeth is a good way to remove any food particles that get stuck on it. Brushing alone might not be good enough, that is why flossing your teeth is a good additional step to take care of your mouth. If you have a mouthwash, by all means, use it.

2) Cut Down Your Protein

Protein has been proven to make your breath smell bad. Even worse, it is hard to totally cure your bad breath problem if you eat too much meat, steak and chicken. The reason is because the bad smell actually comes from inside your body and not from your mouth.

The only way to cure this is by controlling on what you eat.

3) Do Not Smoke

The best cure for bad breath for smokers is not to smoke anymore cigarettes. Even if you cut down your smoking, you still going to suffer from bad breath. Let me point out by saying nothing good comes from smoking. Not only it will effect the smokers, it is also going to effect everybody around him.

You can chew some gums or mint to temporary eliminate the bad smell. However, after several minutes, the awful smell will appear once more. If you are serious to cure your bad breath, you really need to consider quitting smoking.

4) Drink More Water

Dry mouth can contribute to bad breath as well. When your mouth is dry, there is not enough moisture inside your mouth to remove the bacteria. It is very important for you to drink a lot of plain water to overcome this. I am sure you have heard an advice saying that you need to drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday, so you better drink enough water from now on.

If you follow the above steps, I am pretty sure you will have no problem dealing with other people because now you have all the confidence in the world to talk to other people knowing that you have a fresh breath. Actually, the best cure for bad breath starts from you. You need to do something about it and do not take this matter lightly.

Bad breath is hard to discover on yourself.?Everyone else’s breath we can easily say is bad.?But dentists are advising to their patients that it is time that they simply assume.?Assume if your gums are bleeding that you mostly likely have gum disease. Assume if your mouth is sore when you brush your teeth, that you have dental problems.?Now assume that because your gums are bleeding and your mouth is sore with brushing that you have bad breath.

Gum disease, according to dentists, is the usual cause of persistent bad breath. It is also something you may just get used to and not think about.?There are signs to look for with gum disease.?Besides the obvious bleeding, you may see that your gums look red and swollen and when you push on them they turn white for a moment.?Gum disease is caused by ‘plaque’, the sticky film of bacteria that naturally forms on the teeth.?This is why we brush our teeth, to get this plaque off every single day so our mouth will stay healthy. Bacteria tend to lodge between the teeth and where the teeth meet the gums. The waste products of the bacteria have a foul, stale smell.

This means if you don’t clean your teeth, you will have bad breath.?The first thing you need to do then is to go to your dentist.?Make sure when you call to schedule the appointment that you tell them it is in regard to bad breath.?It is important because then they can schedule a visual inspection, a cleaning and an assessment of any defects or pockets that might lend to the problem you are having.?/p>

It is important that you know how to clean your teeth properly. If you do not know how, get your dental hygienist to show you how.?It is amazing what they can show you; how to hold your brush, angle the bristles to get where they need to go and how to floss your teeth to make sure that between the teeth is gotten clean.?They will give your teeth a thorough cleaning and polish each tooth.?Then they will instruct you how to do so at home.?Listen and learn.?You are paying good money and betting your bad breath on it.

One good way to get great at brushing your teeth and getting rid of the bad breath is to use disclosing tablets.?These are tablets that dye the plaque on your teeth, showing you exactly the areas that you are not cleaning properly.?A few tips that might help between brushings is to use a toothpick to get out large particles of food between your teeth and if you can, rinse your mouth out even if it is just with water after every meal.

As long as you are brushing your teeth, why not take care of that icky tongue??Buy a tongue cleaner and use it.?It is a curved scraper and you place it on the back of your tongue as far back as you can and pull it forward like hoeing a row in your garden.?Something important to remember is do not scrape so hard in your desire to be clean that you make the problem worse by giving the tongue abrasions that collect bacteria and get infected.

It is important that you get your gums back into a healthy state.?If they are healthy and you have no teeth or mouth infection then a big reason most people have bad breath is gone.?Communication with your dentist about your bad breath problem is vital. Don’t be embarrassed just get help.?/p>

They are more common in adults than in children and the origin of these have been debated for a long time.

There was a study done in 2007 that effectively linked tonsillitis as they are also called and bad breath. Of the test people who had bad breath, 75% had these tonsil stones, but only 6% of people who didn’t have tonsil stones had bad breath.

If you want to see if you have these stones, then it’s not that easy to find them. Some of these stones can only be discovered on X-rays. Yes they are that small.

How to remove them?

Once you have identified a stone on your tonsils then you can actually remove them yourself. However, due to the gag reflex it can be a bit difficult.

There are more remedies such as drinking club soda and tonic water. This remedy is done over time and results will show after a while.

Thanks to better care and technological advances, more people than ever before are keeping their teeth throughout their lives. The most important thing you can do to make sure you’re one of those who keep their natural teeth is to brush and floss regularly.

Most dental decay is caused by plaque, a sticky, colorless bacteria that is constantly forming on your teeth. Saliva, food (especially sugar) and fluids combine to produce plaque, which collects on teeth and where teeth and gums meet. Plaque that is not removed by regular brushing and flossing can harden into tartar, a crusty deposit that can only be removed by a dentist.

Plaque also leads to gum disease, a potentially serious infection that can erode bone and destroy the tissues surrounding teeth. Flossing removes plaque between teeth, and brushing removes plaque from the large surfaces of the teeth and, if done correctly, from just under the gums.

With brushing being such an important factor in your oral health, you can see why your choice of a toothpaste is important, but with so many brands and types – plaque control, tartar control, whitening, gum care, sensitive teeth, polish, smoker’s – from which to choose, picking the right toothpaste can be a daunting task. Your dentist or dental hygienist can help narrow the field by discussing what your special brushing needs are.

If you tend to build up plaque or tartar quickly, you’ll want a plaque or tartar-control toothpaste. Anti-plaque/tartar toothpastes will have ingredients such as fluoride and/or antibacterial agents to limit plaque and tartar formation. (Check with your dentist before choosing fluoride toothpaste for your young children. Excessive fluoride ingestion by pre-school age children can lead to discoloration of the permanent teeth. If your child uses fluoride toothpaste, make sure s/he does not swallow toothpaste while brushing.)

If you smoke or drink tea or coffee, a whitening toothpaste may help with stains. However, whitening toothpastes only remove adherent stain. The ingredients necessary to actually bleach your teeth are not chemically stable enough to be included in toothpaste. Use caution with those toothpastes made to remove heavy stains, frequently referred to as “smoker’s toothpaste” or “tooth polish”. These toothpastes may be excessively abrasive and may cause progressive wearing away of the tooth and supporting tissues. (Also, if you smoke, be sure to see your dentist regularly, as smokers are at increased risk of gum disease, early tooth loss and also soft tissue conditions including oral cancer.)

Temperature sensitive teeth will benefit from a toothpaste made to desensitize your teeth. Your needs may change as you age, so don’t be surprised if your hygienist recommends a type of toothpaste you haven’t used before.

Once you’ve determined which type of toothpaste is best, choose the one that tastes and feels best and doesn’t cause irritation or sensitivity problems. If you like the flavor and texture of your toothpaste, you’ll brush more and longer. And brushing well and regularly means you’ll be smiling with your natural teeth well into your mature years.

Whatever the cause of your bad breath, the most common remedy is ineffective and counterproductive. Mouthwash is the enemy to which I am referring.

Mouthwashes are a combination of flavors, a bit of dye, and too much alcohol. Any ER doctor will recount a story about a child they had seen near death from drinking mouthwash. Most are about 20% alcohol… wait, let me go check. The generic brand I just found in my house is 21.6% alcohol. This is more than beer and wine! (We have it as a sample from our previous dentist).

While the claims that mouthwash kill bacteria are true, it’s also true that the bacteria quickly come back-and in greater force than before you used the mouthwash. (Yes, there are good brands out there, getting to that).

Too much mouthwash is irritating to the gums, the palate, the tongue, and the mucous membranes of the mouth. And in a small percentage of people who are susceptible, and in particular if they smoke and drink, heavy use of mouthwash can cause certain types of cancer.

If you do want to use something to freshen your breath, you can put a few drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water and rinse (do not swallow it). You can get peppermint oil at a pharmacy and probably all over the Internet.

Halitosis or bad breath has a number of cause the most obvious being dental hygiene. If you don’t brush and floss your teeth regularly tiny bits of food will become lodge between teeth you barely knew you had in your mouth and those will decompose. Imagine a dead person in your mouth… yes, gross.

Of course you already know you should brush and floss your teeth twice a day, but there are some other measures you can take to ensure fresh smelling breath.

Brushing your tongue is probably the single most effective thing you can do. (I personally chew sugar-free gum, but I know that’s bad.) In studies it has been shown that tongue brushing alone is a better guard against bad breath than brushing only the teeth.

Flossing of course is so important. I am always flossing and it annoys lots of people, but my gums are healthy while I am not, go figure.

Replace your toothbrush about every 2 months. If you could only see the bacteria on that thing, you’d replace it more often. I personally love my Sonicare and I replace the head about every 3 months and my hygienist loves me for it.

If you are somewhere you can’t brush, use water and swish it around your mouth vigorously.

Snacks like carrots, apples and celery help fight the development of plaque on teeth according to every dentist I’ve ever known. I’ve dated several, what’s up with that?

Visit your dentist twice yearly not only for cleaning, but for an examination of your mouth. This is so important if you are a smoker of course!

Some foods are well-known offenders as far as bad breath goes. Garlic is probably the one that comes to everyone’s mind. However, there are others like: raw onions, hot peppers, cheeses, anchovies, sardines, pepperoni and other foods I’m sure you can think of. Ugh!

Other causes of bad breath like postnasal drip from sinusitis can cause bad breath also. So can alcoholism, kidney failure, liver disease, an ulcer, as well as certain medications.

If you have chronic bad breath (lasting longer than 6 months) see your physician.

Natural Prescriptions For Bad Breath:

* Avoid the use of commercial mouthwashes; Toms of Maine makes a wonderful line of oral care products. Biotene also makes alcohol-free products that help keep the bacteria level in your mouth in check.

* Eliminate the offending foods discussed in this article or others that you think might be causing you to have bad breath.

* Brush your teeth with care at least twice a day.

* If you can’t brush after meals, simply rinse your mouth with plain water.

* Visit your dentist twice yearly for a thorough cleaning and examination to elimination other causes of bad breath: cavities, bleeding gums, abscessed teeth, throat infection, etc.

* Clean dentures, or partials carefully.

* Eliminate offending foods.

* See your physician or clinic if bad breath persists.

One important and effective thing you can do to eliminate the nasty smell in your mouth is to develop good dental hygiene. You need to brush at least twice a day (at least!), if you can brush every after meal then that will be better to prevent bacteria from growing.

Brush your tongue as well to scrape off food particles. This will keep your breath fresh. Flossing is also important to remove food debris in between your teeth. Brushing alone cannot do this job so you really have to floss at least once a day to prevent food from rotting in your teeth.

Visit your dentist every 6 months for professional cleaning and to check if any of your teeth needs some filling. You can also ask your dentist if you need a gum treatment. Gingivitis is also one of the leading causes of foul smell in the mouth.

Another thing you can do to treat bad breath is to stay away from foods that stimulate dragon breath. Stick with food that can help eliminate odor-causing bacteria in your mouth like yogurt. Regular consumption of fruits rich in Vitamin C will also help you maintain a cleaner and fresher breath. Alcohol, coffee, cheese, sugar, onion and garlic can worsen your condition.

If you are regularly brushing your teeth and you don’t eat food which can offend your breath but you still have bad breath then consider taking internal breath fresheners. These products are usually made of natural ingredients with anti-bacterial properties and they are usually taken before or after a meal.

Medicated toothpaste, mouthwash and oxygenated gums can also help you in dealing with bad breath. Lastly, one of the most effective methods on how to treat bad breath is by drinking plenty of water. A moist mouth is unlikely to be prone to bad breath than dry mouth.

Chronic bad breath, also known as halitosis, is very distressing for those that suffer from it, and is also unpleasant for those that live and work with them. If you noticed people step back when you speak to them, then you definitely need help. This article is designed to provide that help, and point you in the right direction for the permanent cure that you so badly need.

How many youngsters are afraid to kiss their girl or boy fried? It is a crying shame because the cure is available, and nobody need suffer from bad breath now. It might have been different when there was only one viewpoint on the cause of bad breath: bad or unclean teeth, but that has been proved to be a myth, and chronic bad breath has little to do with the stet of your teeth.

Sure, if your teeth are really bad, your breath will not be sweet, but it will get better after some dental work. True halitosis won’t get better though, because it is caused by more than just rotting food in tooth cavities. So what is the cause of that stinking breath that people can smell from yards away?

Bacteria. But just ordinary bacteria, and certainly not the bacteria that your toothbrush is design to remove. These are bacteria that live on your teeth and gums and that covert sugars to acids. The acids then eat away at your tooth enamel until you have a cavity. No, the bacteria that cause chronic bad breath are what are known as anaerobic bacteria; bacteria that thrive in the absence of oxygen.

These bacteria live in fissures deep in your tongue and cheeks where there is no oxygen, at least not enough to deter anaerobic bacteria. They produce noxious waste products called volatile sulfur compounds (VSC), that really smell very bad. A white coating on your tongue can indicate that you have a very severe infestation of these bacteria, although you don’t need a lot to give you chronic bad breath.

The growth of anaerobic bacteria can be encouraged by a dry mouth, where there is little saliva to penetrate the cracks in your mouth and help to destroy them. Excess alcohol, smoking and sleeping with your mouth open can all fry up your mouth, and cause a terrible smelling odor to emanate from your mouth in the morning. If this is the cause of your morning ‘dog breath’ then it will not go away after a while, but will persist.

These VSCs that smell so bad accumulate in your mouth, inside your gums and in the cavities of your teeth. They persist, and hang around, and all the time the bacteria are producing even more. Ordinary toothpastes and mouthwashes don’t touch them because they are designed to. There is only one way to kill off anaerobic bacteria.

Because they thrive in the absence of oxygen, anaerobic bacteria can be destroyed by exposing them to oxygen. There are some toothpastes that have been formulated to generated oxygen when they are used, and when you brush your teeth with these they get into the cracks in your gums and kill them off there. For your tongue you have to use a tongue scraper with the toothpaste to get it right into the fissures of your tongue, and kill them off there.

A soft toothbrush can be used to clean your cheeks from these nasty little creatures, and once you have tackled your gums, tongue and cheeks, you should have removed the vast majority of these bacteria. You can then maintain your new fresh breath with a good oxygenating mouthwash, which contains no alcohol because alcohol can allow them to return. A good chewing gum will also help to keep your smelling fresh.

What this process does is to cure the chronic condition, something that a normal toothpaste and mouthwash will not do, and then maintain a fresh smelling mouth and breath. I suffered from terrible chronic bad breath at one time, but do so not longer, so I know that this is the way to go.

Anybody with chronic bad breath needs help, no matter what their age. To get that help and make it work you have to understand what causes it so that you can understand the cure. Check out Cure Bad Breath and get a FREE Booklet on halitosis, its causes and how to cure it. You will also be given a means of curing it, and then it is up to you.
